CEREC Sirona CAD/CAM

CEREC One Visit Dentistry Aesthetically Pleasing, Tooth-like Custom Crowns, Inlays, Veneers and More – in One Visit!

Holmdel’s newest cutting edge technology, Cerec CAD/CAM, makes it easy to complete custom crowns, inlays, onlays, copings, abutements and veneers in one visit. Full ceramic restorations, detailed computer design and a digitally created impression – no difficult impression trays, unattractive metal or need for a temporary. CEREC protects and preserves your own tooth’s structural integrity. We can complete treatment in one convenient visit, resulting in a natural tooth appearance and a comfortable, happy patient.

CEREC/Ceramic Reconstruction Step by Step
First, the defective filling and decay is removed and a reflective powder layer prepares the tooth for imaging.

Next, an optical 3D image is acquired with a small camera, directly in your mouth. The restoration is created on the screen using the image data. Diamond coated instruments mill a ceramic block to reproduce the design. This is accomplished during a single appointment using Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacture (CAD/CAM)

In the third and final steps, after polishing, the new restoration fits precisely. A unique light hardens the bonding material, uniting porcelain and tooth. Polishing or glazing ensures a pleasantly smooth and natural feel. The colour and appearance make the special ceramic blend with your tooth.

Perfectly bonded porcelain ensures an extremely long life for your teeth.

Perfect Looks. Perfect Comfort. Perfect Quality. Long Lasting and Durable.

Digital Panorex

One Click for a Panoramic View of Your Teeth and Jaw – with Less Radiation.

With the Digital Panorex Unit, DHC dentists can take state-of-the art digital radiography of your teeth and jaw with one x ray. Digital Panoramic x rays provide a broad view of the jaws, teeth, sinuses, nasal area and jaw. They can help to detect problems such as impacted teeth, bone abnormalities, cysts, growths, infections and fractures.

In addition to being faster and more diagnostic, the Digital Panorex Unit also provides the benefit of less radiation than a conventional Panorex machine.

Digital Panorex X-Rays

Digital X-Rays

No Waiting for Development – X Rays Immediately Broadcast in Your Treatment Room.

The use of digital x rays (computer generated images) requires less radiation than that of conventional film x rays and eliminates the use of environmentally damaging solutions. The images of your teeth are immediately broadcast on a video monitor in the treatment room, thereby providing for faster and safer images. Digital x rays also produce more vibrant, detailed images, resulting in more accurate diagnosis.

With a more accurate diagnosis, DHC’s dentists can determine and execute the best possible plan of treatment for its patients.

KCP1000 Air Abrasion

Simply Put, No Drilling.

KCP 1000 Air Abrasion Dental Health Center of Holmdel’s commitment to the highest level of patient care, comfort and healing is evidenced by its expert application of the KCP1000 Air Abrasion for dental treatments.

This cutting edge technology sprays away decay without heat, vibration or whining of the drill…and less need for the needle! This means we can perform cavity preparations without the use of anesthetics.

Air abrasion is also used in prepping enamel for stronger and long lasting bonding and the removal of tooth stains. It’s fast and simple and allows for the treatment of multiple teeth in one visit.

Until recently, there was only one way for dentists to remove small, worn-out fillings or decay in teeth - with a traditional dental drill. Today, with Air Abrasion (drilless dentistry), a microscopically fine powder is carried to the tooth by a stream of air, gently spraying away decay. This is all accomplished without physically touching your tooth. In simplest terms, imagine a precise miniature sandblaster.

Air abrasion is best used for:

Air Abrasion Advantages Versus the Traditional Dental Drill:

The KCP is also very useful in a variety of cosmetic procedures such as bonding, veneers, inlays and onlays. After preparation, teeth are generally restored with one of the new white filling materials that can be bonded to the teeth. It removes the smallest possible amount of tooth structure, and in only a few minutes, strong, natural-looking restorations are placed.

VELscope

VELscope Oral Cancer Screening Convenient Oral Cancer Screening in Less Than Three Minutes.

In about three minutes, this unique, patented tool allows for us to immediately observe fluorescence signatures to distinguish between normal and abnormal tissue, including precancerous and cancerous growths, which may not be detected under the typical white light examinations. This procedure is pain free, takes only one to two minutes and does not involve distasteful rinses or dyes as in other systems.

Oral Cancer is three times more prevalent than Cervical Cancer. Approximately 8,000 people die of oral cancer each year. This is primarily due to the fact that oral cancer is typically not detected until the deadly cancer is in its late stages.

Unlike many other forms of cancer, the incidence of oral cancer in the United States has increased over the years. Traditionally, tobacco and alcohol use have been known as main risk factors for oral cancer. However, it has been recently proved that certain strains of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), has been strongly associated with oral cancer. Oral cancer that is detected in its early stages has a 5-year survival rate around 90%, conversely, when detected in its later stage, the survival rate is around 20%. Oral cancer has typically affected people over the age of 40 but there is a growing number of younger people being diagnosed with this deadly disease.

VELscope Oral Cancer Screening VELscope is a revolutionary hand-held device that provides dentists and hygienists with an easy-to-use adjunctive mucosal examination system for the early detection of abnormal tissue in your mouth. It is based on the direct visualization of tissue fluorescence and the changes in fluorescence that occur when abnormalities are present.

The VELscope handpiece emits a safe blue light into the oral cavity, which excites the tissue from the surface of the epithelium through to the basement membrane (where premalignant changes typically start) and into the stroma beneath, causing it to fluoresce. Dentists and hygienists are then able to immediately view the different fluorescence responses to help differentiate between normal and abnormal tissue. VELscope is the only non-invasive adjunctive device clinically proven to help discover occult oral disease.

The VELscope exam is a smart precaution in the early detection and treatment of cancer. This test is just as imperative as annual mammograms, Pap smears, colonoscopies and prostate exams.
Dental Health Center of Holmdel is committed to continuously elevating the level of preventive care for its patients. DHC is currently one of very few dental offices providing the VELscope oral cancer exam.

The VELscope is cleared by the FDA and Health Canada to help detect cancerous and precancerous lesions. It is also the first device cleared to assist surgeons set surgical margins when surgery is required.
